Morena broke onto the local football scene after shining for Bloemfontein Celtic’s youth team for two years between 2011 and 2013. The right-winger cum right-back then made his first team debut for Bloemfontein Celtic in 2013 where he instantly became a fan-favourite among the adoring Siwelele supporters. Morena joined Mamelodi Sundowns in 2016, while the Tshwane-giants were under the guidance of former coach Pitso Mosimane. An attacker by trade, it was Mosimane who made use of Morena in a more defensive role as the talented player later settled in the right-back position. Known for his blistering pace, Morena hardly gets beat for pace in one-on-one situations, while he remains defensively sound at the same time. Unlike many of his Bafana peers, Morena did not have an extended run in the South African youth ranks. However, the 31-year-old is now a regular for the South African senior squad and has accumulated 24 caps so far.
