Match Preview: Ellis ready to rotate ahead of Zambia friendly
Following Banyana Banyana’s 3-2 victory against Botswana last week, Desiree Ellis and her troops will now turn their attention to Zambia in their next International friendly on Tuesday afternoon.
South Africa’s games against Botswana and Zambia will serve as preparation for the defence of their Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title, with the upcoming tournament set to be held in Morocco from 5-26 July 2025.
Banyana will now take on Zambia at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium on Tuesday afternoon (3:00pm CAT), with Ellis fixed on squad rotation during the three-nation series.
“We want to make sure that we give as many players an opportunity,” Ellis said after Banyana’s victory over Botswana.
To go back to last year, we started with a new group against Senegal, we went to Denmark with a local group, we brought in some international players for the England friendly, then we brought another new group into the fold against Jamaica and Malawi.
“Now we’re in a position to sit down and finalise our squad.”
